About your eye test

Relax, don’t worry about your eye test. We’ll ask some questions relating to your eyes which will provide the optician with a context for the eye test. You will then be introduced to your optician, who will undertake an eye test in the privacy of a separate consulting room. As well as being tested with the equipment you’re used to seeing, your examination may also include advanced technology relevant to the type of test you are having. An eye test on average takes about twenty minutes.

With developments in optical equipment, and with the skill of the optician, many conditions such as cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetes and high blood pressure can be detected at an early stage and appropriate action will be recommended.

If at any time during the eye test you have any questions, or need anything explaining, please don’t hesitate to ask. Alternatively, once you’re test is complete, you can speak to the optician.

We want you to be perfectly happy with your test so please ask us if there is something bothering you about having a test.
